BIG BOSS MAN
Big Boss Man return to Blow Up following the release of their fourth album The Last Man On Earth on Blow Up Records. In 2015 they were invited in for a session with Cerys Matthews on BBC 6 Music, playing numerous dates around the UK & Europe. The album also received great radio support from more DJs at BBC 6 Music and BBC Radio 2, including multiple spins by Craig Charles on his Funk & Soul Show, with additional plays from Gideon Coe, Nemone, Tom Ravenscroft, Chris Hawkins and Huey Morgan at the stations.
Their sound has been described as a hip hybrid of ’60s and ’70s drenched R&B, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Soul and Psych, 'Last Man' taking the listener on new sonic explorations. It's certainly not a straight Soul Jazz album - ‘Shot Down’ experiments with North West Garage/Frat, ‘Project No 6’ has the Sci-Fi squelch of a Radiophonic Workshop piece and hugely cinematic ‘Painted Rainbow’ features a bombastic femme vocals akin to The Rotary Connection.
